Pedal Review: Ethos Overdrive

The Ethos Overdrive is a pedal that was inspired by the tone and responsiveness of one of the most sought after boutique guitar amps ever, the Dxmble amplifier.

Seeing as there are only an estimated 300 of these Dxmble amps in the world and they fetch around $40,000, it’s not suprising that this Ethos overdrive pedal has caught a lot of people’s attention.

There is apparently a 13 month waiting list just to get a hold of one! If you’re keen to get one now, I just found the only one on ebay at the moment, but you’ll need to be quick as the auction finishes in 3 days.

While this pedal almost sounds to good to be true, Ethos is no urban guitar myth – it delivers the goods. The Ethos nails the coveted “D” amp, is extremely touch-sensitive, serves up a phenom range and quality of clean through overdriven tones; is plug and play easy; and is as jaw-dropping in the studio as it is live on stage.

The overdrive is not like anything I’ve ever played through. It is extremely touch sensitive, meaning you can crank the gain (drive) and dig in for great sustain, yet back off with your pick and get a clear bell like sound. – John Moore
