What do you think is the most popular acoustic guitar in the world?
OK, this was much harder than I thought. Trying to find the most popular acoustic guitar is like trying to convince a Gibson fanatic that Fender is better (not that I think that).
Acoustic guitars bring a lot of joy, to people who play it and also to others who listen and appreciate it’s music and sound. The list of top acoustic guitars shall always remain debatable, due to the fact that every guitar sounds unlike and has a different kind of beauty.
“The guitar is a small orchestra. It is polyphonic. Every string is a different color, a different voice.” – Andre Segovia
In the list below, I’ve tried to be specific and list the exact model, not just the brand of guitar. As I feel that every brand of guitar has good and bad models. For example, Epiphone may have some good models, but it also has some ‘less than desirable’ models.
So, without further ado, here is my list of the most popular acoustic guitars:
1. Taylor 814CE
There is no guessing involved in understanding why the 814ce continues to be one of Taylor’s most popular models. The great design and build-quality of Taylor’s instruments is not much of a secret either. Every aspect of the 814ce is meant to exist in precise harmony with every other—from Taylor’s production method, which balances art and tradition with the science and innovation, to their choice of woods, construction and electronic features, and of course great looks and outstanding tone.
2. Martin D-28
One acoustic guitar has been copied more than any other but never equalled. It is easily the most recognizeable and famous acoustic guitar ever – the Martin D-28
3. Gibson SJ200
The Gibson SJ200, is by far the most popular jumbo acoustic guitar.
In today’s world, many acoustic guitar manufacturers have chosen to build their instruments quickly, cheaply, and in greater numbers.
Gibson acoustic guitars are made one at a time, by hand. No shortcuts.
There are so many more great guitars. I almost feel bad, that I haven’t made the list longer. Let me know below, if you feel there is a better guitar than the 3 listed above..

Takamine’s are right up there too – as long as you dont go for the low end models.
Specifically look at the Natural and Supernatural Series.
Great Full Sound for Live and Recording.
The wewish (couple years old) CoolTube Pre’s also sound amazing.

Love my Taylor so much… One day I’ll have an 8 series to add to my collection. I also love the Gibson Hummingbird, it sounds amazing. And the Guild F47RC, It’s one sexy acoustic and has a mean cutaway design.
I love the look of the Guild.. looks nice!
I have a D 28 and a SJ200 Guess thats a good start to my collection. Had both since the 90s but one guitar I have had much longer my 1976 Alvarez by Yairi Dy57.
