Fender just released this new guitar in January 2010.
It’s basically a half acoustic half electric guitar with the Fishman Aurasystem piezo pickup and a Custom Shop Twisted Tele pickup in a chambered ash body.
The Acoustasonic Tele is like no other Telecaster model in Fender history in that it was designed specifically to produce lush, full and authentic acoustic guitar sounds.
Listeners may do a double-take when they hear it, as it produces sounds with all the resonance and complexity of a full-bodied acoustic guitar. This is accomplished using the technology of the Fishman Aurasystem, a groundbreaking musical technology that allows acoustic guitar tones to emanate from the iconic form of a Telecaster.
Like some other guitarists, I’m a bit suspicious that an ‘emulated’ acoustic sound will be as good as the real thing (ie. Watch the videos I posted of the Top 3 Most Popular Acoustic Guitars), however this may be an interesting guitar to try next time you visit your local guitar shop.
Interestingly, the Fender Acoustasonic Tele received the Best of Show award from the 2010 Winter NAMM show.
You can find out more about this guitar at the Fender Website.

[...] Guitar Review – Fender Acoustasonic Tele | The Daily Guitar [...]
Purchased this guitar on the back of a few reviews and video clips on you tube and was very sceptical about it and unsure as to whether I should “risk” spending as much on a guitar I hadnt tried.
I was far from disappointed, it outweighed all my expectation in all areas.
Sound was much more acoustic than I expected and using both pickups gives such a wonderful full sound and personally I’ve found it really stimulates the creative side in me.
If you are thinking about a new guitar I would recommend you give this a trial, only area I would question is the reliability of the electrics but only time will be a test of this.
